Emma Coates
Emma has loved dance from an early age, starting classes at the age of three and gradually progressing and dedicating herself to train at a more serious level, moving to the Susan Robinson School of Ballet just before she turned fourteen. In this stage of her training Emma followed the RAD ballet syllabus up to Advanced 2 level, and also studied modern, tap and musical theatre. She took part in many school shows and competitions, winning several awards at national level including the Molly Lake Musicality Award for Ballet at the All England Dance National Finals and the Dame Antoinette Sibley Scholarship (Level 2) at the RAD Dance Challenge.
Pursuing her passion for ballet, Emma then trained at English National Ballet School, where she studied, performed and choreographed ballet and other dance genres at a very high standard. She performed on stages such as Sadler’s Wells Theatre and The London Coliseum, and was involved in reaching out to the wider community through various projects including performing at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and helping at auditions and open days. She took part in several choreography projects, and her works were selected for performance at The Wallace Collection and The Britten Theatre. In her final year she danced with English National Ballet in Swan Lake as a member of the corps de ballet, which gave her valuable experience in a professional setting.
It was while at English National Ballet School that Emma also discovered a passion for supporting others, and decided to move into teaching so that she could pass on her love of and commitment to ballet. Since graduating from English National Ballet School with a Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance, Emma has been working as a ballet teacher, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to share her knowledge and nurture students to achieve their best, while also continuing her studies to enhance her ballet teaching skills.
Emma holds a current enhanced DBS check, has up-to-date first aid and safeguarding training, and is fully insured.
