Established in 1993, the school has over 300 pupils and a 100% pass rate in RAD, IDTA and ISTD exams

Drawing pupils from Richmond, St Margarets, Twickenham, Isleworth, Whitton and beyond, the school prides itself in providing a happy and caring environment for its pupils.

Starting as early as 18 months now in our Tiny Tots Ballet, many students progress right through the RAD and ISTD Grades, graduating at the age of 18. Whilst some leave for university, others have graduated to vocational dance and musical theatre schools, including Laine Theatre Arts, the BRIT School, London Studio Centre, Italia Conti, Central School Of Ballet, Millennium Performing Arts, Centre PAC, London Contemporary Dance School and Bodywork Company. We are always very proud to see our alumni performing in London's West End, touring with professional dance and ballet companies, working in film and television or qualifying as dance teachers.

Ballet is the basis from which all other dance styles stem from here. Dance styles covered at Twickenham Academy include ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, street / hip hop, lyrical and musical theatre.

We love dance and our classes aim to be a positive learning experience for each chilld, building confidence and sociability, improving flexibility, working on strength, technique, poise and coordination. Increased self-discipline, respect, team work and creativity are all benefits of our classes. We look to improve our students and fulfill potential, whether their dance studies are a hobby, or in serious consideration of following dance as a vocational subject.

All pupils have the opportunity to participate in shows, exams and workshops. Selected pupils compete in regional festivals, often getting through to national finals. Senior girls can become teaching assistants in the younger classes. This is a high honour for our pupils and it is great experience for them and their personal development. Having teaching assistants benefits the younger pupils tremendously as well, giving them inspiration as to what they could achieve and another friendly face to interact with.

  • aboutTestimonial1

"I just wanted to say thank you and what a fantastic show you produced! Talia enjoyed every minute of it and said how she ‘loved to dance’ on stage! Any nerves disappeared! All the girls were amazing, such talent!"

  • aboutTestimonial2

"Being a teaching assistant has taught me so much and is genuinely one of my favourite things that comes with being a part of Twickenham Academy. It is so rewarding to see all the children learn so much from you, Charlotte and Louise and how much fun they have . . . thank you for giving me the opportunity to become as involved in the dance school as I am."

  • aboutTestimonial3

"Thank you so much for being the best dance teacher and I will never ever forget you and Twickenham Academy"

  • aboutTestimonial4

"There hasn't been one day that Bella hasn't wanted to go to dance class. She has made great friends, been a part of a fantastic community and it's always been a space away from everything else which has been a brilliant support . . . I don't think many dance teachers achieve that balance which is why TA is a special dance school."

  • aboutTestimonial5

"When you first started rehearsals a year ago none of us parents could believe how complex the choreography was . . . We were sceptical you would manage to pull it from the girls given their young age . . . And yet you did and not only that, they achieved 90% in their very first festival! Wow! It was a wonderful lesson in the power of aiming high and practice, practice, practice!"

  • aboutTestimonial6

"I wanted to thank you for the show and the opportunities Millie had to perform. It has had a big impact on her self confidence and I have seen her try new things this summer that I don't think she would have tackled before."

  • aboutTestimonial7

"I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for the amazing support and kindness you have continued to give Harriet and for the wonderful show. You and your team created a wonderful safe and happy place for our girls and have given us all a memory to treasure."
